Northenia James' Obituary
Northenia James 76 of Decatur, IL went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 8, 2006 at 6:37 am.
Home going services will be 11:00 am Friday July 14, 2006 in First Church of God in Christ, 217 E. Decatur Street. Visitation will be one hour before service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mother James was born on January 21, 1930, in Brownsville, TN, to the union of William and Frankie Wright. Mother James married Nathaniel James in December 1954, in Sikeston, MO. They were blessed with nine children. Mother James and her family resided in East St. Louis, IL for 17 years where she worked for the East ST. Louis school district. Mother James moved to Decatur, IL in 1995 and became an Evangelist for the Lord through the Church of God in Christ. Mother James was a devoted Christian and devoted mother. Her love for the Lord and her love for her children were well known by all who knew her and by all who came in contact with her. Mother James is survived by all nine of her children: Joe Charace James of North Stonington, CT; Susie Victor Whitelow of Decatur; Steven James of Decatur; Larry James of Decatur; Linzy Sherea James of Decatur; Calvin Angie James of Madison, IL; Arthur Holly James of Springfield, IL; Sharon Chris Woolford of Grand Rapids, MI; and Ray Jera James of Decatur. Also surviving are her sisters, Luetta Arnold of San Bernardino, CA; Willola Arnold of Pennsylvania. Mother James leaves 23 grandchildren whom she loved so dearly and a host of nieces and nephews. Mother James was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters. Mother James will be greatly missed by her children and all who knew her. She was a true witness for the Lord and had a very kind and giving spirit.
