Odell Mitchell's Obituary
On Saturday, August 2, 2008, the gentle soul of Odell Mitchell departed this life.
Homegoing services will be 11:00 am Saturday August 9, 2008 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Young officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
He was born October 16, 1934 to the late Rev. Liddell & Beatrice Lee Mitchell. He married Lorene Madden in 1952. They were married 55 years until she departed this life in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorene, his parents, Rev. Liddell & Beatrice, and his brothers, Nick and Lee Arthur.
Odell was employed for many years by Wagner Castings Co., where he retired. He was a wonderful, devoted father, husband, and grandfather, one who, if you ever met him, you would not forget him.
He was also a drummer. He played various bands in the 60s. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age.
He leaves to cherish wonderful fond memories, his children, Debra Frank Jones; Gwendolyn; Darren Carolyn all of Decatur, IL; Brenda Clarence Booker of Petersburg, VA; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The family of Odell Mitchell have entrusted the care of their loved one to Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur.
