Oliver Gaylen Hector's Obituary
Oliver Gaylen Hector, 82, of Cerro Gordo, IL died April 9, 2010 in Eastview Terrace Nursing Home, Sullivan.
Mr. Hector was born on January 12, 1928 the son of Ralph and Ethel Goodman Hector. He was Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked as a steel worker for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel. He also worked for the Decatur Park District at the airport and retired from Big Creek Stables. He loved working with horses and had a special bond with them. He also enjoyed the Kentucky Derby. He loved his special time with his grandchildren Hayden, Dylan, and DeLanee. He married Linda Smalley on June 23, 1979 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; sons, Rick Hector Jeanne of Riverton; Dan Hector of Mt. Zion; Shane Hector of Cerro Gordo; daughters, TeAnn Walters Robert of Cerro Gordo; Laura Hector of Cerro Gordo; Leslie Miller Brandon of Argenta; step-son, John Hilberling Heather of Deberry, FL; sister, Norma Harmeier Robert of Decatur; 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Debbie and Linda, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday April 17, 2010 in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Rick Hector officiating and Military Honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. The family request casual dress.
