Orville E. "Gene" Schroll's Obituary
Orville E. "Gene" Schroll, 83, of Decatur, died on Friday, October 20, 2006 in Manor Care with his family by his side.
Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life will be 10 am Mon Oct. 23, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service will be at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
Gene was born on July 24, 1923 in Macon Co. near Forsyth, the son of Carl and Lenora Webb Schroll. He was a member of the Macon County Farm Bureau and a charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He farmed for 9 years in the Forsyth area and then 33 years in the Maroa area before retiring and moving to Decatur. He married Teresa Kapper on October 16, 1943 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife Teresa of 63 years; son, Gary and wife Jill, daughters: Connie Wood and her husband Ben and Mary Lou Glenn and her husband Bob all of Decatur; sons: Rickey and wife Brenda of Savage, MN; Ronald and wife Sandy of Concord, NC; ten grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond.
The family would like to thank the staff of Manor Care for their loving care and deep concern.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
