Orville Gregory Owens, Sr.'s Obituary
Orville Gregory Owens Sr., 60, the youngest son of Odie & Ruth Owens was called home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 in the Church of Jesus Christ – The Living God, 4240 E. William St. Road in Decatur with Pastor Sam R. Owens officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Orville was born October 8, 1949 in Decatur, IL, was educated in the Decatur public school system and graduated from Eisenhower High School. He continued his education at Barber College in Chicago, IL and also completed air condition and refrigeration college. Orville later served in the United States Army and was a dedicated employee of A.E. Staley Mfg and later Tate & Lyle in Decatur, IL for 41 years. Orville married Christine Meeks on April 18, 1981 in Decatur, IL and to this union two children were born. He was president of the Deacon Board of The Church Of Jesus Christ The Living God and is survived by loving wife, Christine Owens; two daughters, Boneisa Cook, Wilmington, DE and Christina M. Owens of Decatur; three sons, Orlando D. Owens Keturah and Orville G. Owens Jr. of Decatur and Gregory Bennett of New York, NY; sister, Ruth Donaldson and brother, James D. Owens, both of Decatur. Orville is also survived and loved dearly by sisters & brothers-in-law, Delores Mack Small, Ruthie Roosevelt Singleton, Dorothy Isaac Edwards, Sherley Tyus, Evon Robinson, Ada Owens, Elease Meeks, Earl Meeks, Percy Janet Meeks, and Rudolph Jerdean Meeks. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany K. Owens and Donte Owens of Wilmington, DE and Kiana and Kineisha Owens of Decatur as well as several nieces and nephews. Orville was preceded in death by parents, his mother-in law, one brother, two brothers-in-law and one nephew. The family of Orville Gregory Owens Sr. has entrusted the care of their loved one to Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, honored provider of Veterans Funeral Care, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur, IL.
