Otis T. Wildy's Obituary
Decatur-Otis T. Wildy, 90, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 in his home.
He was born November 7, 1922 in Mounds, Illinois, the son of Erhard George and Charlotte (Thomas) Wildy. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. He was a Staff Sgt that served in the China Burma India Theatre. He received three bronze stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was previously employed as a mechanic with Canteen Corp retiring after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Hump Pilots Association, Distinguished Flying Cross Society, Air Force Association, and the China Burma India Veterans Association. He married Ima E. Hughes September 2, 1950 in Arkansas. She preceded him in death November 2, 1997.
He leaves behind his son Tom Wildy and wife Barb of Decatur, daughter Janet Dabney and husband Chris of Lancaster, Missouri, grandchildren Jenika Johnson and husband Mark, Cody Dabney, Clinton Dabney and significant other Lindsay, and Ryan Wildy, great-grandchildren Cade, Liam, Aliana, and Elias Johnson, Parker, Prestyn, Pierson, and Kaylum Dabney.
Services to celebrate Otis’ life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Christ United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
