Rev. Ozell L. Banks' Obituary
Decatur – Rev. Ozell L. Banks, 63, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Ozell was born June 1, 1955, in Decatur, the son of Walter and Willie B. (Hunter) Banks. A U.S. Army veteran, Ozell was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Decatur CB club “Double 58”, VFW and most recently attended Northside Missionary Baptist Church. He married Lillie G. Sangster on May 5, 2004 in Decatur.
Left not to mourn but to cherish fond memories are his wife, Lillie of Decatur; children: Timothy Robinson of Ft. Wayne, IN, Marnese (Herman) Banks – Brown of Savannah, GA, Ozell L. Banks, II of Atlanta, GA, Shayla Patterson of Las Vegas NV, Philip Banks of Decatur, Phyllis Banks of Springfield and Marcus Carter of Savannah, GA; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; siblings: Bishop Walter J. (Val Carmen – Banks) Banks, Jr, of Harrisburg, Troy (Patricia) Sutton of Danville, Leotis Banks of Chicago and Cheryl McGee of Decatur; god mother, Alberta Bond and mother-in-law, Mary Sangster of Decatur; godsons: Tracy Winters, Jimmie D. Winters and Kourtney T. Roby; goddaughter, Sherry Estes; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Homegoing service to celebrate his life will be 11 am Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Northside Missionary Baptist; visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial with military rites will follow at Macon County Memorial Park.
