Patricia J. Mitchell-Rieck's Obituary
Patricia J. Mitchell-Rieck, 73, of Decatur, died Friday December 26, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Tuesday December 30, 2008 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Molloy as celebrant. Visitation will be 5:00 ' 7:00 pm Monday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Mary Ann Tirpak Scholarship Fund or Holy Family Catholic Church.
Patricia was born on December 23, 1935 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Albert M. and Lucille M. Bruder Wiescope. She was member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a volunteer with Catholic Charities, Red Cross, Dove, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, and DMH Auxiliary. She was a Registered nurse working at St. Mary’s Hospital, Adolph Meyer’s and retiring from McFarland in Springfield. She married Walter Nelson mitchell in Bement on June 15, 1957. She later married James R. Rieck in Decatur on April 23, 1994.
She is survived by her children, Mary Burrus Randy of Pana, IL; Julee Dunker Kelly of Decatur, IL; Annette Wieczorek of Glen Ellyn, IL; James Mitchell fianceé, Sandy Splansky of De Kalb, IL; foster child, Barbara Scanlon of Decatur, IL; the Rieck family children, Tom, Ron, Mike, Ray, Mark, Joe, Wally, and Paula; brother, Ronald Wiescope Jean of Forsyth, IL; sisters, Mary Ann Hewing Donald of Philo, IL; Kathleen Dawson Stan of Monticello, IL; grandchildren, Patrick, Natalie and daughter, Alizabeth, Jonathan, Robyn and son, Myles, Missy and son, Parker, Andrea, Dennis, P.J., Colleen, Brian, Brenda, Tommy, John, Phillipa, Alexandra, Andrew, Jennifer, Michael, Stephanie, Kim, Danny, Chad, Samatha, Zack, Chris, James, Andrea, Dolton, Mathew, Tony, Kami, Jeff, Erin, Evan, Preston, Braydon, Amy, Megan, and Scott; five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dog Baby Boy “Snick”
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and one sister, Marjorie Wiescope.
The family would like to thank Dr. Muneses, Dr. Velasco, Cancer Care Center, DMH Radiation-Oncology staff, and DMH 6400 staff for all their care during Patricia’s illness.
