Patricia P. Smith's Obituary
Decatur-Patricia Paulette Smith, 67, of Decatur passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 in her home with her family at her side.
Patricia was born on August 14, 1946 in Decatur the daughter of Theodore F. and Marjorie E. (Kepner) Spanbauer. She was a member of Ss. James & Patrick Parish, an Avon Representative and was a homemaker. She married Robert L. Smith on June 19, 1965 in Decatur.
Patricia was very devoted to the Roman Catholic Church and was involved in various activities surrounding her faith and St. Patrick’s Church and School. She loved life, her family and grandchildren. When Patricia was younger, she traveled extensively to Europe, Canada, and within the United States. She loved roses and flowers. She was a former beauty pageant winner and model.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; sons, Rodney Louis Smith of Mattoon; Mark Douglas Smith (Joanna) of Temecula, CA; brothers, Ronald Spanbauer (Cheryl) of Horseshoe, NC; Michael Spanbauer (Kathy) of Elkhorn, WI; and grandchildren, Alexandra, Ian, Devin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Theodore Paul Spanbauer.
Her grandfather Frank Spanbauer patented a hybrid rose he named after Patricia called Patty’s Pink.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Friday September 27, 2013 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. John Burnette as Celebrant. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer service at 5:30 PM Thursday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick School Annual Fund.
