Patsy "Pat" Kunz (nee Naab, formerly Adams)'s Obituary
Patsy “Pat” Kunz, 87, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, in the hospital, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and just enough sass to keep things interesting.
Born December 13, 1938, in the Mattoon/Charleston area, Pat grew up with strong roots and a spirit that carried her through a full and meaningful life. She spent most of her years in Decatur before later calling Forsyth home.
Pat was a proud mom, grandmother, and great - grandmother who never missed a chance to stay connected with the people she loved. She was first married to Bob Adams, who preceded her in death in 1995, and together they raised their son, Steve. She later married Ed Kunz, and the two built a life filled with daily adventures - many of which, according to Pat, involved the ongoing “trials and tribulations” of Ed and their dog, Spoofer.
She retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company as a dedicated production worker. In retirement, she stayed busy doing what she did best - bringing people together. Pat was especially known for her fundraising leadership with Kiwanis and the Red Hat Society, earning recognition in the local paper more than once. If there was a cause, a gathering, or a reason to show up, Pat was already there.
She loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Illini basketball, playing cards, and spending time with friends - especially if it involved good food and plenty of laughs. She had a gift for making light of life’s frustrations, usually punctuated by her favorite expression - “Oh sh** ” - which somehow made everything feel a little more manageable and a lot more memorable.
And if you knew her well, you knew this: staying connected wasn’t optional - especially if you happened to be her only son.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Ed Kunz; her son, Steve (Sheri) Adams of Canton, Georgia; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. She is also survived by Ed’s children: Karen Rehwinkel; John (Amy) Kunz; Jody (Dennis) O’Loughlin; and Ed (Barb) Kunz, along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she welcomed and loved as her own.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the Forsyth Community Center in Forsyth, Illinois.
She wouldn’t want a fuss - just for people to show up, laugh a little, and maybe blame Ed for something.
