Patty Rose (Kite) Wagner's Obituary
Sullivan– Patty Rose (Kite) Wagner, 78, of Sullivan, formerly of Decatur, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, in Mason Point Nursing Home with her family at her side.
Patty was born November 7, 1934, in Casey, IL, to Glenn and Maude (Finney) Kite. She attended Sullivan High School and Eastern Illinois University. On November 24, 1956, she married John F. Wagner and he preceded her in death October 12, 1987.
Surviving are her sons: Scott (Marcia) Wagner of Decatur; Jack (D.D.) Wagner of Forsyth; daughters, Linda (Bob) Glazier of Ogden; and Cindy (Dave) Niesman of Buffalo Grove; a brother, Richard Kite of Laguna Woods, CA; 10 grandchildren: Bryan (Leslie), Aaron, Caleb and Bethany Wagner; Leanne Wagner; Cassie and Jessica Glazier; and Peter, Anna and Ben Niesman; and two great-grandchildren: Conner and Colin Wagner.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Marilyn Stubblefield.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be 6 p.m. Thursday, August 29, in St. Thomas Catholic Church, 2155 N. Union, Decatur, with Rev. Richard Weltin, celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at the church. A private family burial will take place Friday, August 30. Memorial donations are suggested to: Greater IL Alzheimer’s Association 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800 Chicago, IL 60631.
Patty served as bookkeeper for the family business, Wagner Memorial Company, and later worked as receptionist for her brother-in-law, Dr. William L. Wagner. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and being with family. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2008.
The family would like to thank the amazing caregivers at Aspen Creek and Mason Point in Sullivan. She was loved by everyone who cared for her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
