JONES OBITUARY
Paul Jones, 70 , of Decatur died at 10:59 pm Friday August 27, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 11:30 am Wednesday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, where visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Paul was born in Baton Rouge, LA on August 25, 1935, the son of Lonnie and Allie Fae May Jones. He married Juanita Lions on June 15, 1980 in Decatur, she survives. Paul served his country in the United States Navy for 30 years as a Chief Petty Officer, receiving the Purple Heart Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Medal, Navy Commendation and Vietnam Presidential Service Medal. He was past member of the American Legion, V.F.W. He worked as administrator for DMH, while there, he was instrumental in bringing Emergency Services to the Decatur Area. He taught EMT classes in the area for many years.
Also surviving include his children; Paul “Vic” and wife Cindi Jones of Decatur, Dale Jones of Locust Grove, GA , William Lee Neeley and wife Carol of Decatur, Denise Duckett and husband Michael of Locust Grove, GA, Robyn Vanderford and husband Michael of Bartlett, TN, Leilani Brunner and husband Harold of Oakley, Tina Louis Kruze and husband Bob of Taylorville, Zelda Sears and husband Scott of Decatur and Elizabeth Bartimus and husband Michael of Mt. Zion. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Jones of Fresno, CA and his sisters, Bess Edwards and husband Dave, Alice F. Kusterer and Judy A. Troop all of Fresno. Paul has 30 loving grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents , two sons, George Sterling and Robert Mark Neeley, three brothers, John H. Jones, Lonnie C. Jones and Rodger Jones.
Paul was loving husband, father, best friend and our hero.
