Pearl Jones' Obituary
The wonderful life of our beloved mother, Pearl Reese Jones, began April 17, 1932 in Brooksfield, Mississippi. She was the twin daughter of Lathers and Fannie Reese.
At the age of 3, her family relocated to Murphysboro, IL where she grew up with eight brothers and sisters. At the age of 19, she moved to Decatur, IL. In 1966, she married Richard Jones. From this union, she raised eight children of her own.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Murphysboro, IL. She continued her relationship with Christ in Decatur as a devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
Along with her three sisters, she became a charter member of Richland Community College. She and her sisters were some of the first students to attend the college when it first opened in downtown Decatur.
She worked as an inspector at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for almost 20 years before her retirement.
She especially loved her family and loved to host family gatherings.
Pearl was preceded in rest by her parents; Daughter, Phyllis Durant;
Great-granddaughter, Jia Phillips; Two sisters: Margarite Rogers and Fannie Stewart; Five brothers: Harry Reese, Ora Reese, Nora Lewis, Sr., Walker C. Reese, and twin brother, Earl Reese, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Sister, Lula Fitzpatrick; Son-in law, Tony Durant; Four sons: SturgisAnnie Jones, GaryTammie Jones, KipKathy Jones, KitaRena Jones; Three daughters: Jennifer Jones, Jill Jones, SheilaJason Flournoy; Grandchildren: ShawnJerry Phillips, Kia, Anthony, Suton, Amber, Sturgis, Jr., Remo, Chad, Sharona, Fallon, Joshua, Kamari, Chad, Brittany, Jabree, Jurnee, Genesis, Jade; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Homegoing services celebrating her life will be 12 pm Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 am until the service time in the church. Entombment will take place at the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Graceland Cemetery.
The family of Pearl Jones is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
