Peggy Jo "Peg" Kovach's Obituary
Peggy Jo “Peg” Kovach, 65, of Decatur, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Peg was born September 17, 1946 in Champaign, Illinois daughter of Clarence “Pete” and Ethel Black Bowlin and was later adopted by Rex Buehler. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Millikin University and her Master’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University. Peg was a teacher for 13 years with Decatur School District 61 and Holy Family School. She then became the Executive Director for Growing Strong Sexual Assault Center. After retirement, Peg served on the board for the Macon County Child Advocacy Center. She married Michael Kovach November 27, 1965, in Mt. Pulaski, Illinois.
Peg is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughter, Angela Russell Edgecombe and her son, Christopher Jolene Kovach of Decatur; grandchildren: Alyssa Edgecombe of Decatur, Jessica Atteberry of Petersburg, Nicole Edgecombe of Decatur, Skyler Kovach of Petersburg, Sarah Edgecombe and Christopher Kovach of Decatur; sister, Rebecca Louis Volle of Mt. Pulaski; brothers: Michael Melody Buehler of Mission Viejo, CA and Rex Buehler, Jr. of Clinton; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.
Memorial visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 4-6 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Casual attire is requested. Cremation service will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. Interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Growing Strong Sexual Assault Center or Macon County Child Advocacy Center.
