Perry Thomas' Obituary
Perry Thomas, 83, of Forsyth, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 in his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 am Thurs. Sept. 21, 2006 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wed. in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith In Action c/o Catholic Charities of Decatur.
Perry was born on June 18, 1923 in Greencastle, IN the son of Valentine C. and Martha Perry Thomas. An Army Veteran and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Perry was well known in the community as the owner/operator of the Perry Thomas Lincoln/Mercury car dealership. An avid Illini fan, Perry often traveled to Champaign/Urbana to watch the Illini. He was an Honorary Member of the Varsity "I", a member of the Rebounders Club and could be found quite often wearing his orange and blue Illini shoes. Perry married Sue Potts on Nov. 3, 1978.
Surviving is his wife, Sue of Forsyth; sons: Gregg Ethel Thomas of Decatur, James Shelly Thomas of Idaho and Phil Sheri Klein of El Paso; daughter, Patricia Ann Ralph Forbes of Arizona; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many-many friends.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
