Peter Paul Kasmer's Obituary
Peter Paul Kasmer, 81, of Decatur, formerly of Binghamton, NY, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in his home.
Peter was born August 5, 1928 in Duryea, PA, the son of Peter A. and Mary Stachnik Kasmer. An Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and member of the VFW and American Legion, Peter worked as a mechanic for the New York Department of Transportation for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a past member of St. James Catholic Church in Johnson City, NY, and St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Binghamton, NY, where he served as an usher for many years. He married Theresa L. Drankoski April 7, 1956 in Binghamton, NY.
Surviving is his wife, Theresa of Decatur; daughters: Sharon husband, Jerry Follis of Decatur, and Patricia husband, Jim Benner of River Oaks, TX; grandchildren: Justin wife, Emily Follis, Kristin Follis, Crystal husband, Jeff Shepherd, Deana husband, Spencer Pickrell, and James Benner; great grandchildren, Bailey Benner, Landon Pickrell, and Larique Shepherd; sister, Dolores Drake and son, Anthony of Binghamton, NY.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Paul Drake.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be 10 am Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Drive, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass in the church. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL, with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials gifts may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
