Philip C. Schenkel's Obituary
Philip C. Schenkel, 67, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in his home.
Phil was born on March 1, 1949 in Decatur the son of Grant and Ethel (Baugher) Schenkel. He was retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad after 39 years of service. He was a huge NASCAR fan. He married Donna Hobbs on July 19, 1969 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; son, John P. Schenkel of Decatur; daughter Cindy Eybel of Decatur; brothers, Ronn Schenkel (Irene) of Decatur; Jack Schenkel (Diane) of Decatur; sisters, Sandy Haseley (Steve) of Decatur; Tina Redman (Gene) of Decatur; Susie Schlosser of Decatur; grandchildren: Jeffery Eybel, Kyle Schenkel, Grant Eybel, and Dylan Schenkel all of Decatur; mother-in-law, Betty Reynolds of Decatur; seven nephews, one niece, and his dog, Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and brother-in-law Dan Schlosser.

Service to celebrate Phil’s life will be 11 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Heart & Lung Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
