Phillip Lawrence Carr's Obituary
Decatur-Phillip Lawrence Carr, 68, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services to celebrate Phill's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Northeast Community Fund or the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
Phill was born August 17, 1944 in Decatur, the son of Virgil R. and Lillian W. (Lyons) Carr. He graduated from Decatur McArthur High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Paris, France, during Vietnam. He transported prisoners and played football for NATO. He was previously employed with Borg- Warner for twenty-one years and then was owner/operator of Phill's Complete Lawn Care for twenty years. He married Linda Willhite Marsh on May 12, 1989.
He leaves behind his wife Linda, daughters Tricia and Tonya Carr both of Springfield, stepdaughter Julie Marsh Spencer and husband Stephen of Decatur, stepson Curtis Marsh and wife Becky of Brownsburg, Indiana, and grandchildren Kendra Matthews, Kaleb Allen, Jason Rosborough, Stephen Rosborough, Amanda Marsh, Jacob Marsh, and Lucas Marsh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Beverly Carr Graham.
