Phillip Raymond Wilhelm's Obituary
Phillip Raymond Wilhelm 57 of Decatur died 8:05 pm Tuesday November 14, 2006 in Carle Foundation Hospital Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday November 18, 2006 in Maranatha Assembly of God located at 555 W. Imboden Drive with Pastor Doug Lowery officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 pm Friday in the church. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Parkinson Research at Washington University Hospital in St. Louis, MO or the American Diabetes Association.
Phillip was born on February 14, 1949 in Mattoon, IL the son of Gerald and Janice McCune Wilhelm. He was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God. He worked as the Municipal Service Manager for the City of Decatur for over 20 years. He served as a member of the District 61 school board, past Cub Scout leader, past Boy Scout leader, and coach of over 20 baseball and softball teams. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, writing poetry and painting. He was a member of the American Public Works Association, President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Prairie Branch of the Illinois Chapter of the A.P.W.A. He was a Certified Engineering Technician from the Institute of Certification of Eng. Tech. He married Linda Swick on June 10, 1972 in Greenup, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Wilhelm; mother, Janice Brand of Mattoon, IL; sons Brian Wilhelm and wife Billie of Niantic, IL; Matthew Wilhelm and wife Chantay of Cisco, IL; daughter, Elizabeth Drennan and husband Tyler of Great falls, MT; brother, Dennis Wilhelm Sr. and wife Linda of Decatur, IL; sister, Mary Magenotta and husband Chris of Mattoon, IL; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Wilhelm, Step-father George Brand, one brother Tom Wilhelm, and one nephew.
