Predency Rogers' Obituary
Predency Rogers was born in Halls, TN on September 5, 1931 and entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, December 15, 2013. While on this Earth, she was the devoted wife of Ford N. Taylor until his death in 1956. She then pledged her love to William S. Rogers Sr. and they were married in 1960. Predency was the loving mother of seven children. Although she only bore seven children of her own, she was the surrogate and spiritual mother to an entire community, offering her home and guidance to those in need. Known to her church family as Missionary Rogers or Mother Rogers, she could always be counted on to offer a spirit filled prayer, suggest a thought provoking Bible verse or simply provide an encouraging word.
Predency worked as a nursing assistant at Lincoln Manor nursing home until she began her career as a baker at Swartz Catering. As a result of her extraordinary baking abilities, she was soon recruited by Shaws Catering, from which she retired in the 1980’s. As a self-made culinary genius, Predency created and mastered a multitude of recipes. Because of her culinary talents, the Rogers’ home became the coveted dinner location on Sunday afternoons. Family, friends, church members and neighbors would flock to her table to enjoy the mouthwatering cuisine she prepared with love. Everyone was always welcome and she made sure there was always enough food for everyone to enjoy.
Predency leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, William S. Rogers Sr. of Decatur IL; her children, Dr. Olivia Taylor of Albany, GA; Clifford Taylor (Cynthia) of Union City, GA; Thomas Taylor of Decatur, IL; Brian Rogers of Decatur, IL; Duane Rogers (Kimberly Jackson) of Decatur, IL; and Apostle William Rogers (Donna) of Tampa, FL, 18 grandchildren and 37 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Dora Helm, her brothers, JC Helm, Noble Helm Jr. and George Helm, her daughters, Francis Taylor and Vickie Spates-Pannell and her grandson, Cameron Thomas Taylor.
Services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Kingdom Come Ministries, 321 E. Leafland Ave, Decatur, IL 62521 at 11:00 AM. Visitation is one hour before services. Burial: Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
