Raymond Penermon's Obituary
Raymond Penermon, 78, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Raymond was born October 27, 1945, in Bell City, MO, the 5th child of sixteen (16) into the union of Joseph and Mabel (Clark) Penermon. Raymond accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was always very generous with his possessions and astute with words of encouragement and wisdom for family and friends.
Raymond graduated from McNeil High School, Crawfordsville, AR, in 1964. Immediately following graduation, he relocated to Decatur, IL, where he found employment at Caterpillar, Inc. He later went to work for Longwell and Scott Co.
Raymond enjoyed singing with his sisters during their visit to The Loft. He always made you laugh and motivated one to approach life with a sense of light-heartedness and gratitude.
Raymond is survived by his son; Clement (Mecca) Tate of Pineville, NC one granddaughter, Elise Tate, Pineville, NC; brothers, Chester (Vivian) Penermon, Ezra (Gabrielle) Penermon of Decatur, IL, Jethro Penermon of Dallas, TX; sisters, Ruth Nicholson of Arlington, TX, Rachel Penermon, Decatur, IL, Marilyn (Michael) Garrett of Decatur IL; brother-in-law, Harrington Shaw, Jr. of Decatur, IL; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Joseph O. Penermon; his mother, Mable L. Penermon; brothers, Melvin, Joseph and John, Joseph D. and Virgil; and sisters: Maurice, Evelyn, Mary, and Gwendolyn.
Raymond Penermon will be remembered for his friendly character, philosophical humor, and love of family. He will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him. Raymond’s final resting place will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur, IL.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home.Visitation will be one hour prior to Celebration at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
