Raymond E. Pettit's Obituary
Raymond Edwin Pettit Sr. 95 of Bolingbrook, IL died Thursday August 30, 2007 in Aurora Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services celebrating Ray's life will be 10:00 am Thursday September 6, 2007 in Oaklawn Bible Church. Visitation will be 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday in the church. Burial with military honors will be 1:30 pm Thursday in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at Elwood, Illinois. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Oak Lawn Bible Church.
Ray was born on December 1, 1911 in Chicago, IL the son of William Henry and Emma Emilie Rahn Pettit. He was a retired machinist maintenance foreman for a dental lab. He served his country proudly during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He married Ellen Ruth Milham on Aug 23, 1946 in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; sons, Thomas Pettit and wife Shirley of Manchester, TN; Raymond Pettit Jr. and wife Joan of Hammond, IN; James Milham and wife Clydia of Alsip, IL; William Pettit Sr. and wife Rhonda of New Lenox, IL; daughters, Barbara Vander Giessen and husband Marvin of Aurora, IL; Linda Murphy and husband Patrick of Orlando, FL; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
