Decatur- Raymond E. Phillips, 63, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Raymond’s life will be 6 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
Raymond was born March 1, 1951 in Trezevant, TN, the son of R.L. and Pearl Vaughn Phillips. He was a truck driver for many years and former employee of Caterpillar Inc. He was baptized at an early age in Mount Ararat Baptist Church. Raymond was a former member of the Church of Living God Temple No. 1 in Decatur. He loved reading his bible on a daily basis. He also enjoyed cooking, jogging, playing golf, riding his bicycle, watching TV, and most of all, spending time with his family. Raymond and Doreen were united in marriage May 10, 1980, and they shared thirty-four wonderful years together.
Cherishing his memories are his wife Doreen Phillips of Decatur; sons Quincy Phillips of Jacksonville, AR., Courtney Phillips of Decatur, Joshua Phillips of New Bern, NC.; brothers Billy Joe (Gail) Phillips, Bobby Phillips of Nashville , TN., Richard Lynn Phillips of Trezevant, TN.; sisters Brenda Ellison and Margie Ann Phillips both of Atlanta, GA., mother-in-law Marjorie Beasley of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Frances Williams, and brother Arthur A. Phillips.
