Rebecca Transou's Obituary
Rebecca Transou, 69, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Rebecca was born August 27, 1945 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of B.T. and Jennie B. (Clark) Taylor. Rebecca loved playing bingo in Stonington, IL, and playing cards with her friends. She married Albert Lee Transou, Jr. on September 10, 1962 in Haywood County, TN. Albert passed away on December 12, 2002. She spent 25 years with her significant other, Robert Earl Gray. He passed away April 22, 2001.
Rebecca leaves behind her daughters, Linda Transou (special friend Trent Chapple) of Decatur; Brenda Transou (special friend Ivery Chambliss) of Decatur; Shirley O’Neal of Decatur; brother, Willie John Clark of Toledo, OH; sister, Katherine Gray of Decatur; five grandchildren, Tierra Transou, Tynisha Transou, Cherell Transou, Iesha O’Neal, and Shyni Transou all of Decatur; four great-grandchildren, Tristeona Green, Laela Deviner, Patasia DeBerry, and Demani Slater; special daughter, Velma Jumper; special niece, Judy Bryson; and special friends, Michael Jackson and Lola Love.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert lee Transou, Jr.; significant other, Robert Earl Gray; parents, B.T. and Jennie B. (Clark) Taylor; brothers, L.V. Taylor; Robert Taylor; Earl T. Taylor; and sisters, Regina Bryson and Glenn Edna Kinney.
Services to celebrate Rebecca’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1720 W. Hunt Street, Decatur. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial with a “Flight Home” ceremony will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Rebecca Transou may be directed to the family.
