Rex D. Bauer's Obituary
Decatur – Rex D. Bauer, 80, of Decatur, passed away, Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
Rex was born April 22, 1937, in Decatur, the son of Francis and Gladys (Clements) Bauer. A US Army veteran, Rex worked as a pipefitter at A.E. Staley Manufacturing for 40 years retiring in 1993. Rex was a member of Staley Pipefitters and St. John’s Lutheran Church. He married Virginia Williamson April 4, 1964 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Virginia of Decatur; daughters: Yvonne (Jack) Stroud of Dalton City and Corinne (Mike) Mose of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Nick Stroud, Zack Stroud, Nash Mose and Josslyn Mose; step grandchildren: Ali Hawkins and Taylor Mose; step great grandson, Harlan; other relatives and friends.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
Services to celebrate his life will be 2 pm, Monday, May 1, 2017, in St. John’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday from 12 pm to 2 pm in the church. Burial will take place in Harristown Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Northeast Community Fund or DMH Hospice.
