Rhoda Knuth's Obituary
Rhoda Knuth entered her heavenly home, June 27, 2007, at the age of 87.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Decatur. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Decatur.
Rhoda was born November 30, 1919 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Edmund and Alma Lorenz Knuth. She received her early education in Decatur, attending St. John’s Lutheran School and graduating from Decatur High School. Rhoda was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was baptized in 1919 and confirmed in 1933.
In 1945 she was employed at Decatur Macon County Hospital now DMH as a lab technician. In 1951 she transferred to the E.E.G. lab, later becoming department head. Rhoda was instrumental in founding the National E.E.G. Association, serving as its first secretary. She passed the first national E.E.G. certification tests; becoming the 20th nationally certified E.E.G. Technician in the United States. Rhoda enjoyed her work, coworkers and especially working for Dr. Clarence Glenn. She retired from D.M.C. in 1985.
She was a member of the Bridgette Club and the AXB Sorority. Rhoda particularly enjoyed her many travels and visiting with her family and friends.
Rhoda is survived by two brothers and their wives, Eugene and Ann of San Antonio, Texas, Bill and Eileen of the open road, two sisters Dorothy Kennedy, of Rensselear, IN, and Judy and her husband Leo Stephas of Ruthven, IA. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother Esther Knuth, three brothers, Donald, Melvin, and Theodore.
