Richard Dean Blancett's Obituary
Richard “Dean” Blancett, 89, of Decatur, passed away July 6, 2022 at his home.
Dean was born in Findlay, IL on October 25, 1932, the son of Millard and Bessie (Finks) Blancett. He served proudly in the US Army from 1950 to 1953. He worked as a barber and was the owner of Decatur Barber College. He also was a commercial real estate broker. For fun, he enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to Florida
Dean is survived by his loving partner Gail Morris; his children: Donna (Paul) Phillips of Decatur, and Tammy (Vince) Fumusa of Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Kathleen Blancett of Alabama; brother Cecil Blancett of Decatur; grandchildren Verneil (Jenny) Phillips of South Carolina, Randy Allen (Candace) Blancett II of Maryland, Kyle (Emily) Phillips of Decatur, Ian Fumusa and Haley Fumusa of Wisconsin; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Randy Allen Blancett, brothers Theodore Blancett and Norman Blancett, and sisters Lola Bass, Dorothy Luttrell, and infant Ruby Blancett.
Moran and Goebel Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Dean. A visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Friday, July 15 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 16 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Boiling Spring Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be directed to Cancer Care of Decatur, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or donor’s choice. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.moranandgoebel.com.
