Richard D. Mize's Obituary
Richard D. Mize, 86, of Decatur, died Friday, August 7, 2009, in his home surrounded by his family.
Richard was born October 5, 1922, in East St. Louis, the son of August and Esther Bittle Mize. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Richard, and his longtime friend, Marshall Bowlby owned and operated Jan Master Supply for 40 years. He married Anna Maria Biagi in 1944 and she preceded him in death December 10, 2007.
Surviving are his children: Judith husband, David Miles of Shalimar, FL, Mike wife, Lisa Mize, Kathy husband, Mick Skelton, Teresa husband, Dan Wrigley, and Mary husband, Todd Hooker all of Decatur; 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley husband, Charles Sculley of Jacksonville; close friends of the family: Timothy Schook, Sr., Debra Mize, Mary Jo and Bill Hammer and Marshall and Bonnie Bowlby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers: Melvin and Robert; sister, Virginia and grandson, Tyler Schook.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Entombment will be in Mary Queen of Angels Mausoleum. Memorials gifts may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or The House of St. Joseph the Workman, 319 Racetrack Rd, Ft. Walton Beach, Fl, 32547.
