Richard F. Neal's Obituary
Richard Franklin Neal, 71, of Milwaukee, WI formerly of Indianapolis, IN and Danville, IL, passed this life at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Golden Living Center Bradley Nursing Home in Milwaukee, WI.
Born November 4, 1940 in Paris, IL Richard was known as Dickie, the son of Robert Gary and Mildred Lucille Woodard and birth father Grover Franklin Neal. He attended Garfield and Danville High schools where he was the first black captain on Danville High School Track Team. Dick received numerous medals and recognition for his track and field team. Richard was also a Veteran of the US Air Force.
Surviving are two daughters, Sabrina Scott, Decatur, GA and Kimberly Barnes Michael, Knoxville, TN; three sons, Sherman Neal Generia, Detroit, MI , Princeton Glenn Sparklyn, Columbus, OH , and William Peoples, Indianapolis, IN; brother, Stanley Woodard Yolanda, Madison, WI, sisters, Stormy Mercadel Chuck, Milwaukee, WI, and Gayle Miles Mike, Milwaukee, WI, and sister Marva Vincent Reginald, Danville, IL; twenty grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded by his wife, Freida Neal, his daughter Sharmane Neal, his parents and paternal grandmother, Hattie Mae Thomas.
Services to celebrate Richard’s life will be 12:30 pm Friday, May 4, 2012 in the Danville VA Chapel with Pastor David W. Greene Sr. officaiting. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the chapel. Burial will be in the Danville National Cemetery.
