Richard C. Newman's Obituary
Richard C. "Dick" Newman, 89, of Decatur, passed away on April 4, 2005 at Imboden Creek Nursing Home.
Mass of the resurrection celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with the Very Reverend James O'Shea as celebrant, visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements. The burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Church and School.
Mr. Newman was born on April 24, 1915, the son of Fredrick and Gertrude Newman, in Somerville, MA. He was raised in Milwaukee, WI where he attended Shorewood High School and, later, Lawrence University of Appleton, WI. He moved to Decatur in 1939 to join ADM where he was engaged as Chief Chemist until his retirement in 1979.
He married Dorothy McCormick in 1941 at St. James Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy Newman; sons Stephen Newman Carol, Michael Newman and Timothy Newman Diane and daughter Susan Nystuen Mark; seven grandsons Jeremiah Newman, Brian Newman, Eric Newman, Kevin Nystuen, Connor Nystuen, Scott Nystuen and Alex Newman. He is survived by his sister Roberta Dixon and preceded by his parents, his brother Fredrick Newman and sister Betty Peganau.
