Richard F. Shures' Obituary
Decatur – Richard F. Shures, 92, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 in Heartland of Decatur.
Richard was born in Springfield, IL on December 5, 1921 the son of Frank and Margaret (Rampch) Shures. He enlisted in the Navy and served oversees aboard ship from 1942 to 1947. Richard was a member of Ss. James & Patrick Catholic Church and Decatur Macon County Senior Center. Richard was a former employee of St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur Soy Products, and retired as a maintenance man at Wagners. He married Vivian Day in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1999. Also preceding him were his parents; brothers: Joe, Robert, and John, and sisters: Ester, Helen, and Della.
Surviving are his son, Roger Shures of Rantoul; granddaughter, Christine Ohlsson, great grandson Trent Ohlsson, and step grandson Terry Woods; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In honor of Richard’s wishes no services will be held. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield.
