Richard M. Theobald, Sr. 70, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday Sept. 19, 2004 with his family at his side.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 11 a.m. Thurs. Sept. 23, 2004 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Richard was born on March 21, 1934 the son of Charles F. Theobald Jr. and Vivian Mayberry Theobald Hebel. He attended Macon and Warrensburg Schools before enlisting in the Army serving in Korea. He received his G.E.D. in 1974 and retired from P.P.G. in 1997 after 31 years of service. Richard was a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979, Macon Chapter #21, Decatur Council #16, Beaumanoir Commandery #9, Knights Templar, Zohak Grotto and Ansar Shrine where he was a member of the Hospital Unit. Grandpa loved to work in the yard, golf, the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Most of all he loved his family, watching their ballgames, parades or just being with them. Richard married Kay Kane on June 15, 1957 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Kay of Decatur; children: Becky Tom Briney of MS; Richard Angie Theobald Jr. of MS; Peggy Groves of Decatur; Jeff Theobald of MS; Julie Langford & special friend Pat Mulrooney of Decatur; grandchildren: Dana Michael Beaman of MS; Posha Briney of MS; Tiffany and Hope Theobald of Decatur; Samantha and Andrea Langford of Decatur; Destiny Theobald of Villa Grove; great grandchildren: Ariana, Michael & Haley Beaman of MS; mother, Vivian Hebel of Decatur; brothers: Donald Imogene Theobald of Forsyth; David Gail Theobald of Texas; sisters: Sally Roy Hubner of Decatur; Carol Terry Williams of KS; brother-in-law, Larry Rose Kane of Joliet; sister-in-law, Debbie Tom Miller of Harristown; step grandchildren: Ragan and Adrianne; special nieces: Jennifer Ryan Cooney of Alaska; Kelsey Miller of Harristown; Sandra Theobald of Decatur; Susan McCoy of Sullivan; nephew, Bradley Janie Kane , Brandon and Cooper all of Maroa; 2 step-great grandchildren; uncle, James "J.D." Jackie Mayberry of Decatur; aunts: Dorothy Ramsey of CA; Joy Buddy Browning of Decatur; many more nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Charles Theobald Jr; father and mother-in-law, William and Bernadine Kane.
The family would like to send a special thank you to their DMH Hospice nurses: Angie, Debbie and Nicole.
