Richard "Dick" T. Neihart's Obituary
Richard Thomas Neihart, 76, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born August 11, 1942, in Decatur, IL., to Daniel Richard and Viola (Bruder) Neihart. He married Linda Marie Warner on February 5, 1966, in Decatur, IL. He owned and operated B&V Auto Sales. Dick loved his horses, selling cars, tinkering in his garage for hours and flying toy airplanes, more often than not, into the trees.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda; two children, Tom (Fiancée, Tanya Schum) Neihart of Decatur and Tracy (Rodney Darden) Neihart of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Brooke Darden, Helania Darden, Kaylin Moreland and Corbin Neihart; one great-grandchild on the way; his brother-in-law, Maurice Banks of Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Susie Banks.
The family would like to give special thanks to his daily caregiver and close family friend of 13 years, Michelle Hardwick, whom he fired on a daily basis. And to the greatest nurse ever, Marcia Sullivan.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dick Neihart will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
