Rita Ann Brumleve's Obituary
Rita Ann Brumleve, 77, peacefully went to celebrate eternal life on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Rita was given to us on January 2, 1932, parented by Alf and Catherine Koester in Trowbridge and Effingham, IL. She attended grade school and high school in Effingham, IL.
She was a faith-filled member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and in her retirement years worked as a teacher-aide with Kindergartener classes at Our Lady of Lourdes. Rita regularly had many Kindergartners come to her home for Christmas teas and to make ceramic ornaments, a long-time hobby of hers. She had the magic of helping young children learn beginning life lessons and skills.
On August 19, 1950 she was wed to the love of her life, Gerald “Jeep” Brumleve and celebrated life with him until his death in February, 2008. Rita is survived by her daughter, Diana of Decatur; sons, Doug of Decatur; Bruce wife Becki of Dewitt; and Mark wife Patti of Decatur.
Grandma took pride and gave tremendous love to her grandchildren: Rachael and Jessica of Chicago; Rebekah Fredrick of Arlington, VA; Michael wife Heatherof Taylor, TX; Sam of Dewitt; Clint, Chet, Lena, Sarah, Shane, and Rylie all of Decatur. Her newest delight was her first great-grandson, Payton of Taylor, TX.
Rita was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bernard, sister, Alice and grandson, Nathan.
Because education was such an important part of her emphasis in life, memorials may be made to St. Teresa High School or Our Lady of Lourdes School.
Visitation will be Sunday 4- 6 pm, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. Decatur, IL. 62526; with Mass of the Resurrection at 6 pm. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery Monday, May 4, 2009 at 10:00 am.
Rita’s family wishes to extend their deep gratitude for the compassionate care given to her by Dr. Bradley Schwartz and the ICU Nurses at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
The family of Rita Ann Brumleve is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur, IL. 62526.
