Robert Michael Bedient's Obituary
Robert Michael "Bob" Bedient, 59, from Detroit, Michigan, passed away on June 18,
2026, in his home in Decatur, IL. Bob was born on October 14, 1966 in Garden City, Michigan to Fred and Colleen Bedient. He married Doug Maxwell on June 2nd, 2017 in New York City, New York. Bob had a passion for cooking. He was a fine grill master as well. He loved working with flowers every Spring to make his home look good for the summer months. Bob also loved all his animal friends. His most special one was a Munchkin cat he named Pussandra and loved her dearly.
Bob attended Catholic Central High School. He then graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Bob then enlisted with the United
States Marine Corps and started out as an Officer, 2nd Lieutenant, and got promoted
all the way to Major. His career with the Marines took him to many places across the
globe. He proudly served in the Persian Gulf War in the D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th
Marines Fleet Marine Force artillery division out of Camp Pendleton, California. Prior
with his time in the Marines, he stayed in California then eventually moved to
Naperville, Illinois. He then moved to Decatur, Illinois and worked for the State of Illinois in Springfield for 22 years.
Surviving is his father Fred and wife Yvonne Bedient, sister Rita (Randy) Kelley, step sister Nikki Valentine, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Bobs death are his mother Colleen, brother John, both paternal and maternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, or local animal shelter.
A Memorial Mass will be scheduled in Michigan at a later date.
