Robert "Bob" Earl Dettling's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Earl Dettling, 79, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Friday (11-15-2024) in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Bob was born on August 4, 1945, in South Carolina, the son of Earl Robert and Edna Dettling.
Bob served his country in the United States Air Force.
He enjoyed reading and was a member of the Springfield, IL, Bicycle Club. Bob was also a pilot, glider-pilot, sailor, loved to travel and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his best friend: Karla Hendren and special friends Angie Hendren, Carol Dickerson and Laura Hassinger.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother – Richard Dettling.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday (12-20-2024) at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
