Robert "Bob" Dean Kious' Obituary
Robert “Bob” Dean Kious, 68, a lifelong resident of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away Saturday night, July 19th, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Bob was born January 12th, 1957 to Eldon Dean and Eva Ruth (Carter) Kious.
He graduated from Mattoon High School in 1975 and shortly thereafter started working at RR Donnelley. He dedicated 20 years of his life as a jack of all trades until he retired in 1995 due to a heart condition.
Bob married his first wife Kathy Kious (Biehler) in 1980, they went on to have two children that he found great pride in raising. They divorced in 1994.
Bob then went on to marry his second wife Lori Kious (Davis) in 1996. They enjoyed life together until her passing in 2022.
Throughout his life, Bob loved creating wood work art pieces with his dad in the family garage. He was a Cub Scout leader for his son's pack and enjoyed running the annual Pinewood Derby race. Bob would later enjoy being a leader in Boy Scouts, participating in many Scout activates and events through the years.
He was an avid baseball fan, claiming to be a Texas Rangers' fan since 1972. He spent many hours sharing favorite movies with his daughter and in his later years working on household projects, passing on his knowledge to his sons-in-law.
Bob took any opportunity he could to get on his John Deere lawn mower, Charlene, and mow his yard and anyone else's near him who asked for his help.
There was nothing more important to Bob than family. He enjoyed all the adventures he went on with his family, but especially loved it when all of the kids and grandkids were in the same place at the same time.
Bob is preceded in death by both parents, sister Barb, wife Lori, ex-wife Kathy, and many uncles and aunts.
Bob is survived by Son Andrew (Catrina) Kious of Anchorage AK, daughter Kira (Adam) Kious-Davis of Mattoon IL, step-daughter Stacy (Justin) Shupe of Mattoon, IL, grandchildren Leah Shupe, Landyn and Deacan Kious, a great grandson Xzayvien Edwards, and nieces and nephews.
