Robert H. Harding's Obituary
Decatur-Robert H. Harding, 79, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Bob was born February 4, 1938 in Houston, Texas, the son of Harvey and Druscilla (McDonald) Harding. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was previously employed at Phillips 66 Service Station in Niantic, then Borden Chemical, and retired from Morgan Express. Bob along with his wife Mary owned and operated the New Beverly Inn on Wyckles Corner from 1969 to 1975. He was a member of West Decatur Church of God, IL Dairy Goat Association, and NRA. He was a former member of the American Bowling Congress and Warrensburg Sportsman’s Club. He was inducted in the Dairy Goat Hall of Fame in 2017. Bob enjoyed bowling, dairy goats, livestock, farming, cars, fast pitch softball, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Dallas Cowboys. He married Mary Adams April 8, 1967.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary, children Staci (Roger) Dick, Traci (Michael) Griffin, and Todd Harding, sister Donna Harem, aunt Betty Lucas, grandchildren Michael, Marissa, Maddison, Grace, and Patrick, sister-in-law Joanne (John) Niehay, two nieces and two nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son Timothy Joseph Harding, and faithful friend Roscoe.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Tim Miller, the VA, and the nurses and staff at Fair Havens Christian Home and the fourth floor at DMH.
Services to celebrate Bob’s life will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 11, 2017 at West Decatur Church of God, 4500 W Main St. Decatur, with Pastor James Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11AM prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter.
