Robert Anthony Miller's Obituary
Robert Anthony Miller, 82, of Mattoon, IL, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Robert was born August 20, 1932 in Sigel,IL, the son of Ernest Charles and Josephine (Ludwig) Miller. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the police department in Mattoon. Robert was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Golden Hearts. He loved woodworking, and he did a lot of work for the church. He enjoyed making clocks, benches, and various other items. He married Lupe Catherine Padilla in December of 1952 in Albuquerque, NM. They shared 55 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2008.
Robert leaves behind his sons, Keith Miller of Neoga, IL; George (Jamie) Miller of Mattoon, IL; daughter, Glenda (Gerald) Edwards of Lerna, IL; brothers, Tom (Sheralyn) Ritter, Clarence Doedtman, and Norbert Doedtman; grandchildren, Keith Miller II, Kody (Brandy) Miller, Jennifer Miller, Geramie Edwards, Alicia (Josh) Sledge; Hannah, and Tyler; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Keith III, Bailey, and Dylan.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lupe; parents; brothers, Harry and Ernie; and nephew, John Miller.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Michael’s Church in Sigel, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Sigel.
