Robert Woods Myrvold's Obituary
Robert Woods Myrvold, 87, of Decatur, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Robert was born April 14, 1921, in Decatur, the son of Oscar E. and Minnie Woods Myrvold. A U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, Robert worked at C.B. & Q then Wagners before retiring from Wagners in 1981. He then worked as the night watchman at Climate Control for 17 years. For his service to our country in WWII, Robert received the following decorations: European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Silver Battle Stars, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Distinguished Unit Badge with 1st Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. Robert was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He married Thelma Ruth McGlade in 1942 and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2001.
He is survived by his sons: Stephen J. Beverly Myrvold of Decatur, Richard K. Emily Myrvold of Chenoa; daughters: Robin K. Mike Eddinger of Decatur, Lori A. Mike Gray of Columbus, GA, Mary Ellen Keith Rash of Decatur; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brother, William Myrvold of Carmel, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Mary.
Memorial service: 11 am, Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials: Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
