Robert Niesman's Obituary
Robert Bob Niesman died at 1:30 AM Thursday, October 7, 2010 in Fairhaven Christian Home.
Mass of Resurrection will be in Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Tuesday October 12, 2010, Father Joe Molloy presiding. Visitation will be 5:00 ' 7:00 PM Monday, in Moran Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Catholic Church or American Cancer Society.
Bob was born on November 21, 1928, in Decatur, the son of Alfonse and Mildred Daly Niesman. He married Betty Johnston on January 25, 1956 in Decatur, IL.
Bob worked at Firestone for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Decatur; children, Beth Fred Lohrstorfer; Bruce Jan Niesman; Brenda Terry Rhodes all of Decatur; and Brian Carrie Niesman of Oswego, IL; brother, James Barbara Niesman of Forsyth; sisters, BettyBernie Scot of Taylorville; Mary Carol Tom Kasher of Bloomington; brother-in-law, Bernie Morton of Decatur; twelve grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and special neighbors, Bill and Jody Hunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Patricia, and sister, Lucille Morton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairhaven Christian Home for their care and compassion during his illness.
