Robert G. Prater's Obituary
Decatur-Robert G. 'Pork' Prater, 85, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in Canterbury Ridge in Urbana.
Services to celebrate Robert's life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1960 E. Johns Ave. Decatur, with Pastor John A. Laux officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial with military honors will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Robert was born May 26, 1927 in Cowden, the son of Thomas and Vesta (Miller) Prater. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He was previously employed with Norfolk and Western Railroad retiring with over forty years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing. He married Doris E. Badorek July 11, 1945. She preceded him in death May 12, 2008.
He leaves behind his son Mark Prater of Indianapolis, IN, daughter Linda Knowles and husband Marc of Champaign, grandchildren Mary Prater, Matthew Prater, Michael Knowles, and Kaitlin Knowles, and great-grandson Mason Prater.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents and wife.
