Robert K. "Pops" Roberts' Obituary
Robert K. Roberts “Pops,” 67, of Decatur, passed away Friday, September 8th, 2023 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Robert was born November 8th, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Elmer C. Roberts and Margaret (McNiff) Roberts. He married his wife LaWanda Simpson August 24th, 1985.
Robert worked as a maintenance man for Dickson in Bensenville, IL. He was also a break pressman at Protectoseal until the company moved to Mexico. In 2001 he moved from Chicago to Decatur and worked at Hometown Buffet and Kroger. He then semi-retired, finishing his life off as a handyman.
His boys were his four aces, four horsemen, his five on five. He truly loved his dogs that never talked back; Brandy, Misty, Lucky, Maddie, Olive, and Lucy. He was always enjoying life with his “Penicillin” in his hand. When he couldn't find what he was looking for, the words “Hunnah, Hunnah, Hunnah” seemed to help him find what he needed.
Robert is survived by his children Paul Simpson (Amanda Pilarski), Keith (Carla) Roberts, Jason Roberts, Mark Roberts (Brittani Taylor), and Adam (Brooke) Roberts, brother John Roberts, and ten grandchildren Haylie, Makenzie, Madison, Sadie, Kasen, Colton, Connor, Chase, Chance, and Carrera. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and brothers David, Kenneth, and Cliff.
Services to celebrate Robert’s life will be at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Services. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Dinner celebration is to follow and will be announced at the service. In the famous words of Pop’s “WE GONE!”
