Robert J. "Rob" Jenkins' Obituary
Decatur – Robert J. “Rob” Jenkins, 56, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in his home with his family at his side.
Rob was born March 18, 1958 in Decatur, the son of Lyle and Joan (Kleeburg) Jenkins. A member of First Baptist Church, Rob worked at Wagner Castings for 23 years and was currently working in Industrial Sales at 300 Below. He was an avid sailor and loved sailing out of Lithia Springs Marina in Lake Shelbyville. Rob married Cindy Carter on December 11, 1982 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Cindy of Decatur; children: Angie Jenkins-Chavez, Kyle (Ashley) Jenkins, and Kate Jenkins all of Decatur; grandchildren: Adriana and Lucas and his mother, Joan Jenkins of Decatur; and beloved puppies Maggie and Piper.
Rob was preceded in death by his father and his brother Michael.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Decatur. Burial will take place at a later date in Macon County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois or First Baptist Church, Decatur.
The family would like to thank Dr. Esparaz and the staff at Cancer Care as well as Dr. Wiarda and the staff at DMH Interventional Radiology for their wonderful care. They would also like to thank their friends and extended family who have supported them.
