He was also a diligent letter writer who kept his parents and siblings informed of his adventures. Bob enjoyed his free time after his military retirement doing yard work and playing with his dogs, Silly, Sally and Ed. In recent years he enjoyed having the cats, Flossie, Neo and Dottie in his home.
The body has been cremated under the direction of Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Decatur, IL. Robert had requested shortly before his death that no funeral service be held, but military honors will be provided at 1:00PM, Friday, September 22, 2023, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
