Robert J. Smith's Obituary
Robert J. "Bob" Smith, 88, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in the Lincoln Manor Nursing Home.
The family asks you to join them in a celebration of his life, which will begin with a visitation from 10 am to 12 pm Sat. June 10, 2006 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm. at Macon County Memorial Park, Very Rev. James O'Shea officiating. The service will conclude with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Bob was born on Feb. 25, 1918 in Bement, the son of James Grover and Estella Larson. He was a plumbing contractor since 1946 and previously owned and operated A&A Plumbing for 35 years. Bob was a WWII Navy Veteran, a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 50 year member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #65, Plumbing & Heating Contractors of Macon County, VFW Post #99, and American Legion Castle Williams Post #105. Bob married Betty Jane Randolph on Jan. 6, 1940 in St. Charles, MO.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Betty of Decatur; children: Rick wife, Nancy Cho Smith of Manhattan Beach, CA. and Sandy McGill of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Corielle McGill, Garrett Smith and Avery Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother.
