Robert E. Stewart, Sr.'s Obituary
Robert E. Stewart, Sr. 69, of Decatur, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 in his home with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born August 10, 1938, in Decatur, the son of James and Ruth McAtee Stewart. Robert worked at Burks Pumps in Decatur for 38 years retiring in 2000. He was a man of extreme integrity and stood by his family 100%. His greatest enjoyment came from the time spent with his family. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, golfing, and watching his son play golf. He enjoyed attending New Beginnings Church where he received Jesus Christ in his heart. Robert married the love of his life, Beverly Jean Beavers on January 29, 1957 and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Pam Wilcox, husband Jamey; sons: Matthew J. Stewart, fiancÃ?© Stacy Redding, and Robert Stewart all of Decatur; grandchildren: Heather Beck, Nicki Lee, Shelby Wilcox, Blaine Stewart, and Joseph Littrell; great-grandchildren: Jaelynn Lee, Corey Beck, Abigail Littrell and Matthew Littrell; brother, Joe Stewart of Clinton; sister, Helen Lyons, husband Chuck of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bud, Steve, Paul, Tom, Leroy and Reed; sisters: Margaret and Mary.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Monday, October 15, 2007 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in New Beginnings Church of God with interment to follow at North Fork Cemetery. Memorials: Robert E. Stewart, Sr. memorial Fund or DMH Hospice.
