Robert W. Unger's Obituary
Robert W. Unger, 85, of Decatur, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, died on Thursday, April 08, 2004 at Manor Care Nursing Home.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday April 24, 2004 at Ware's Grove Cemetery, Butler Grove. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
Robert was born on August 13, 1918, in Polo Illinois, the eldest son of Harold and Bess Donaldson Unger. He was a farmer for many years near Butler Grove Illinois and eventually retired from A.D.M. in Decatur. After retirement he worked for eight years for Davis Security and then C.H.E.L.P.'s Senior Companion Care Program.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Vick Unger of Decatur; previous wife, Ida May Turner Unger of Athens, TX; children: Steve Unger, wife Ellen of Athens, TX; Paul Unger, wife Donna of Urbandale IA; Kathleen Kreiselmeyer, husband Howard of Denver CO. and Charles Unger, wife Sharon of Edwardsville. Brothers: Donald Unger wife, Velva of Dixon, IL. and Richard Unger, wife Margaret of Lake Ann, MI. Ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Step-sons: Lester Johnson of Harrington, KS; Chuck Johnson of Baton Rouge, LA. and Russell Vick, wife Debbie of Atlanta, GA. Ten-step grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Unger. His grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
