Robert Eugene Wade's Obituary
Robert Eugene Wade, 76, of Mt. Zion, IL, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, in St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones as he entered the presence of his savior Jesus.
Robert was born May 28, 1939 in Gays, IL, the son of Delbert and Edna (Van Sock) Wade. He was the first of two children. Robert went to Windsor High School. He proudly served for his country in the United States Navy. He retired from being a Union Iron Worker after 30 years of service. After retirement, Robert enjoyed going bowling and visiting local thrift stores. He was also known as a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur. Robert married Virginia Snead on August 8, 1972 in Clinton, IL, and they shared 43 wonderful years together. Robert could be described in five words as being loving, kindhearted, generous, funny and devoted. The marriage to his wife Virginia and the birth of his children and grandchildren were the most important parts of his life. He will be missed.
Robert leaves behind his wife, Virginia; children, Robert (Linda) Wade Jr. of Baraboo, WI; Trish (Allen) Huseth of Baraboo, WI; Jeremy (Jennifer) Snead of Decatur; Linda (Wayne Smith) Shawback of Wisconsin Dells, WI; Angel (Wes) Johnson of Baraboo, WI; grandchildren, Candice Wade, Jennifer Grinder, Lindsey Wade, Scott Grinder, Brooke Miller, Taylor Babich, Morgan Snead, Ashley Wade, Madison Snead, Drew Hawkins, Jillian Kidd, Emma Shawback, Carson Kidd, Brady Johnson, Jackson Shawback; great-grandchildren, Hunter Kalenback, Ellie Wright, Adalyn Babich; and sister, Donna Vivas of Joilet, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family will be hosting a memorial gathering at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Central Baptist Church, 945 S. Jasper St., Decatur.
