Sally C. Mackintosh
My dear Mr. & Mrs. Waldvogel, Barb Anderson and I recently met you in the G.P.Woods park on the most glorious day we had this week. We saw you standing there looking out at the lake and we began to talk, and you shared your heart-wrenching story about the loss of Rob. Oh, how our hearts ached for you and how we wondered what we could do to lessen the burden. Barb and I have spoken of you since then and our prayers and that of the Daughters of the King in the Episcopal Church about which we spoke have been with you ever since. I also spoke about our "Grief Group" at Christ Church GP which I hope you will attend because it is part of the healing process, knowing you are not quite alone. But, your demeanor, your kind and loving hearts spoke to us and we can only imagine what your son Rob was like. Rob sounds like a shining example of a life well lived! How wonderful that in such a chance encounter, you both could bring forth the divine in us. Of course, we know as people of faith, there are no accidents!!! I must add, dear people, that the abrupt and profoundly untimely departure of Rob must haunt, like an unresolved chord in an unfinished symphony. But perhaps we might see in his death a summons to renewed commitment to nurturing each other in the face of the fragility of life. After reading some of the memories of Rob, his life sounds like a sacrament to unity among people everywhere, God rest his soul! In healing love, Sally Mackintosh Grosse Pointe, MI US
